These are the only 2 non Context tours that I have taken and the Food Tour with Viator was really great.
What You Can Expect
You’ll get a real taste of Rome, literally, during your walking tour through Testaccio, a historical Roman neighborhood off the typical tourist track. After meeting your experienced, food-loving guide, set off on your exploration that introduces you to the local culinary scene.
Stop by shops and eateries like the Barberini pastry shop, where you can sample baked treats that have been enjoyed here for more than 50 years. Visit a food market for a look at high-quality produce, and chat with some of the local vendors. At Testaccio Market, you’ll have the chance to sample authentic buffalo mozzarella and make your own bruschetta.
Next, enjoy a fried rice ball, a local specialty known as suppli, at Trappizino, and then visit one of the neighborhood’s best restaurants for traditional Roman cuisine, where you’ll taste fresh pasta and wine. Other stops on your tour include Giolitti Caffee and Gelateria, where artisan gelato has been made for more than 100 years, and the Volpetti cheese shop, where 150 cheeses can be found.
While you walk, your guide will share some of Rome’s lesser-known history and point out sights like the city’s only pyramid and the Protestant Cemetery, where John Keats is buried. Your tour ends just a couple of blocks from your starting point; you are free to continue exploring on your own from here, or hop on public transport, a short walk away.
The other tour we have taken was a great tour but it gave us a chance to see the hills around rome and visit a winery there.
Be like the Popes of centuries past and escape the heat and the hustle of Rome by spending a day lingering around the hill towns of Castelli Romani. This half-day tour from Rome is an excellent opportunity to see an untrammeled swath of the Roman countryside while learning about the history of the area from your knowledgeable local guide. Visit Lake Albano, Castel Gandolfo, Rocca di Papa, Grottaferrata and Frascati. Sample some locally made wine while learning about wine production in the area.

Castelli Romani Half-Day Tour from Rome: Frascati and Castel Gandolfo
Enjoy a glass of wine in Frascati
Get picked up at your hotel in Rome or choose to meet your guide near Termini Station. Then hop on your comfortable coach for the journey to idyllic Castelli Romani, a collection of hill top towns outside of Rome. The guided tour takes you first along the legendary Appian Way, the ancient Roman road that went southward all the way to Brindisi. See the Baths of Caracalla and the Chapel of Domine Quo Vadis along the way.
The first stop is Castel Gandolfo, where the Pope historically retreats in the summer to escape the heat of Rome. The placid diminutive town is packed with historic sites, including the Church of St. Thomas of Villanova, designed by Baroque master, Gian Lorenzo Bernini. After lingering a while in town, head with your guide to Grottaferrata and Rocca di Papa, two small towns that are known for their gastronomic delights. Learn about why porchetta, a juicy pork dish, is famous here. And then head further up into the Alban Hills to the village of Frascati, a spot well known for its wine production. Take in the incredible views of the surrounding countryside, perhaps wander around the village on your own for a short time, exploring all its nooks, and then sample a glass of locally made wine. Learn about its characteristics.
Hop back on the coach and head back to Rome where you’ll be dropped either at Termini Station or another central location.
